Islamic Relief implemented the Islamic Relief’s Emergency and Food Assistance in Sri Lanka (i-EMAFAS) project, funded by Islamic Relief USA, to provide critical assistance to vulnerable families affected by the ongoing economic crisis. As part of this initiative, Islamic Relief distributed 3,200 dry food packs in selected Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Monaragala district. Each food pack contained essential food items, including 15kg of rice, 2kg of dhal, 2kg of wheat flour, and 2 tins of fish, providing much-needed sustenance to families struggling.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the donors for the timely assistance during this difficult time. The project successfully reached 3,200 vulnerable families, with approximately 12,800 individuals benefiting from the dry food distribution in Monaragala district. Additionally, 400 vulnerable families from Ampara and Batticaloa district also received the assistance increasing the individual beneficiaries to 14,400. Islamic Relief is committed to continuing its efforts to support communities in need and to provide essential assistance to those affected by crisis and poverty.
